‘Rudy’ premieres at Toronto International Film Festival 20 years ago today (1993)

(Saturday, September 18, 1993)Rudy, a sports film about the life of Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger who harbored dreams of playing football at the University of Notre Dame despite significant obstacles, premiered today at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Directed by David Anspaugh, the film starred Sean Astin, Jon Favreau, Ned Beatty, Charles S. Dutton, Lili Taylor and Jason Miller.

Directed by Henry Koster, the film starred Richard Burton, Jean Simmons, Victor Mature and Michael Rennie.
