(Monday, October 5, 1953) — The New York Yankees won the 1953 World Series today, beating the Brooklyn Dodgers 2-0 at Yankee Stadium (I) in Bronx, New York, in the sixth and deciding game. It was the fifth consecutive World Series title for the Yankees (the most consecutive WS wins in history) and the 16th of a record 27 overall World Series championships for the team (1923-2009).
