(Sunday, February 23, 1964, 8:00 p.m. EST) — The Beatles performed three songs for their third of three consecutive appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show variety television series on CBS.

This set was recorded in New York on Feb. 9, 1964, about five hours before the group’s first record-breaking live appearance on the show, for broadcast two weeks later after they had left the U.S. to return to Britain.

The rock band from Liverpool, England, performed Twist And Shout, Please Please Me and I Want To Hold Your Hand. It was the very first time they performed on U.S. soil.
