(Monday, March 21, 1994, 9:00 p.m. EST) — Schindler’s List, an epic historical drama film about the Holocaust, won seven Oscars tonight at the 66th Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Steven Spielberg for Best Director. Tom Hanks won Best Actor for Philadelphia and Holly Hunter won Best Actress for The Piano.

The ceremonies were held at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles with Whoopi Goldberg as host.
