(Monday, August 30, 1965) — Highway 61 Revisited, the sixth studio album by the American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan (using rock musicians as his backing band on all but one track, having until then recorded mostly acoustic music), was released today.

The album was ranked number four on Rolling Stone‘s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”
