(Monday, October 21, 1985, body found shortly before 2:00 p.m. PDT) — Dan White, the man convicted of shooting to death Mayor George Moscone of San Francisco and fellow Supervisor Harvey Milk, a gay-rights advocate, in 1978, committed suicide today.
White, who was 39 years old, was found in a car in the garage of a house owned by his wife in San Francisco’s middle-class Excelsior district.
