(Sunday, November 19, 1995)Toy Story, a computer-animated buddy-comedy adventure film that follows a group of anthropomorphic toys who pretend to be lifeless whenever humans are present, premiered tonight at El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.

Directed by John Lasseter, the film starred Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Jim Varney, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Annie Potts, John Morris, Erik von Detten, Laurie Metcalf, R. Lee Ermey, Sarah Freeman and Penn Jillette.

(Tuesday, November 19, 1985; during the Cold War) — U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev met today for the first time as they began their summit in Geneva in what the two sides described as a “good atmosphere.”

The much-heralded encounter, the first between Soviet and American leaders in six years, included two conversations with only interpreters present.
