‘The Endless Summer’ opens in New York 50 years ago this hour (June 15 1966)

(Wednesday, June 15, 1966, 12:30 p.m. EDT)The Endless Summer, a surfing documentary film about two young surfers who travel around the world in search of the perfect wave, opened today at Kips Bay theater in Manhattan.

Directed by Bruce Brown, the film starred Mike Hynson, Robert August and Miki Dora.
