(Thursday, August 23, 1956, 6:18 p.m. PDT) — U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower of Kansas accepted the Republican nomination for President tonight at the 1956 Democratic National Convention meeting at the Cow Palace in San Francisco.
Eisenhower and Vice President Richard M. Nixon, who were both unanimously nominated for second terms, would oppose the Democratic ticket of Adlai Stevenson and Estes Kefauver in the United States presidential election, 1956.
