(Saturday, September 10, 1966) — The North American version of the album Revolver by The Beatles peaked at #1 on today’s Billboard‘s 200 album chart for six consecutive weeks (Sept. 10/17/24, Oct. 1/8/15, 1966).

Revolver was the group’s eighth of a record 19 number one albums on the chart (1964-2001) and is ranked number three on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”
