Agnew, who was forced to resign as the 39th Vice President of the United States in 1973 when he pleaded no contest to a charge of income-tax evasion, died today at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Maryland, after struggling with undiagnosed acute leukemia.
Agnew, who was elected twice and served under President Richard Nixon (1969-1973), was 77 years old.
