(Thursday, December 15, 1966, 9:35 a.m. PST) — Walt Disney, who built his whimsical cartoon world of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs into a $100-million-a year entertainment empire, died this morning of circulatory collapse caused by lung cancer at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, California. He was 65 years old.
