(Tuesday, January 3, 1967, 10:30 a.m. CST) — Jack Ruby, the man who shot the accused assassin of President John F. Kennedy before a nationwide television audience on Nov. 24, 1964, died today at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas, the same hospital in which Kennedy and his assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, died.
Ruby, who was born Jacob Leonard Rubenstein 55 years ago, died of a pulmonary embolism, secondary to bronchogenic carcinoma (lung cancer).
