(Friday, January 28, 1977, 3:30 a.m. PST) — Actor-comedian Freddie Prinze, the 22-year-old co-star of the NBC-TV comedy series Chico and the Man, was gravely wounded today at the Beverly Comstock Hotel in West Los Angeles by a gunshot in the head that the police said had been self-inflicted (he died the following day).
