Video: 'Expo 67 opening ceremonies'
(Thursday, April 27, 1967, afternoon EDT) — Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson lit a ceremonial flame in the Place des Nations in Montreal this afternoon to inaugurate Canada’s 1967 International and Universal Exposition (also known as “Expo 67”), a World’s Fair that would run through Oct. 29, 1967, to coincide with the celebration of the centennial of the 1867 founding of the Canadian Confederation.
Expo 67 opened to the public the following day, with over 310,000 people attending on the first day.
