(Wednesday, May 10, 1967) — Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of rock band The Rolling Stones and their friend and art dealer, Robert Fraser, appeared before magistrates today in Chichester, West Sussex, in southeast England, charged with drug offences and released on £100 bail each (click here and here to watch video from today’s event).
The magistrates heard that after a tip-off, police raided Richards’ mansion in Redlands Road, West Wittering on the evening of Feb. 12, 1967, during a party.
They searched the house, interviewed eight men and one woman and found various tablets and substances that were later examined by the Metropolitan Police Laboratory.
As the case was going to court on this day, police arrested another Stone, Brian Jones, at his London apartment and charged him with drug possession.
