Video: 'La Bamba' trailer

(Thursday, May 14, 1987) — La Bamba, an American biographical film about how singer Richie Valens fought family problems and bigotry to become a recording star, premiered today at the at Seattle Film Festival.

Directed by Luis Valdez, the film starred Lou Diamond Phillips as Valens, Esai Morales, Rosanna DeSoto, Elizabeth Peña, Danielle von Zerneck, and Joe Pantoliano.
