Video: 'Wings' trailer

(Thursday, May 19, 1927) — Wings, a silent war film about romantic rivals who fly against the enemy in World War I, had its world premiere today at the Texas Theater on Houston Street in San Antonio, Texas, the city where it had been filmed.

Directed by William A. Wellman, the film starred Clara Bow, Charles “Buddy” Rogers, Richard Arlen and Gary Cooper.

Wings would go on to win the first Academy Award for best picture.
