(Monday, July 17, 1967) — After seven dates, the psychedelic rock band The Jimi Hendrix Experience quit as an opening act for The Monkees today one day after Hendrix allegedly flipped the bird to the teenybopper fans of the made-for-television pop sensations during a concert at Forest Hills Stadium in New York.
