Video: 'Air Crash Investigations Mayday 04x04 Final Approach Korean Air Flight 801'

(Wednesday, August 6, 1997, 1:42 a.m. ChST) — Korean Air Flight 801 crashed this morning on Nimitz Hill in Asan, Guam, while on approach to Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, killing 228 of the 254 people aboard.

The probable cause of the accident was the captain’s poor execution of the non-precision approach, the captain’s fatigue, poor communication between the flight crew and Korean Air’s lack of flight crew training.
