Video: 'The Doors - 1967-09-12 - Jim Morrison Arrested At New Haven'

(Sunday, December 10, 1967, shortly after midnight EST) — Jim Morrison, the lead singer for The Doors, was arrested on stage tonight at the New Haven Arena in New Haven, Connecticut, during a benefit concert for the New Haven College scholarship fund.

Morrison, the first rock artist ever to be arrested onstage during a concert performance, had been maced by a police officer while making out with a girl fan backstage in a bathroom shower stall prior to the start of the concert.

Morrison, charged with inciting a riot, indecency and public obscenity, was released after posting a $1,500 bond.
