(Saturday, December 9, 1967) — One day before his accidental death in a plane crash, soul singer Otis Redding appeared on today‘s episode of Upbeat on WEWS-TV in Cleveland, performing “Try A Little Tenderness” and “Respect.”

In the evening, Redding performed three sold out shows at Leo’s Casino in Cleveland, the last shows he ever played as he died the following day in a plane crash on his way to his next show in Madison, Wisconsin.
