(Tuesday, December 23, 1997, shortly after 4:00 p.m. MST) — Terry Nichols, 42, was convicted today of involuntary manslaughter and conspiracy for his role in the Oklahoma City bombing, a domestic terrorist truck bombing on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on April 19, 1995, that killed 168 people.
To the dismay of many relatives of the blast’s victims, however, Nichols was acquitted of the far more serious charge of murder.
Nichols would be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on June 4, 1998.
