Video: '1/22/1998: Unabomber Pleads Guilty'
(Thursday, January 22, 1998) — Theodore Kaczynski, 55, pleaded guilty today in Sacramento, California, to being the Unabomber in return for a sentence of life in prison without parole and avoiding a possible death penalty.
As the Unabomber, Kaczynski killed 3 people and injured 23 others between 1978 and 1995 in a nationwide bombing campaign targeting those involved with modern technology.
Under today’s plea agreement, Kaczynski would be sentenced on May 4, 1998, to four life sentences plus 30 years by a federal judge in Sacramento.
