(Monday, March 25, 1968, 7:30-8:00 p.m. EST) — The Monkees match wits with the insane Wizard Glick, who is out to control the minds of television viewers worldwide, on tonight’s final first-run episode of The Monkees, a situation comedy television series on NBC that follows the adventures of four young men trying to make a name for themselves as rock ‘n roll singers.

The rock quartet, currently shooting their first feature film, had become tired of scripts which they deemed monotonous and stale and proposed switching the format of the series to become more like a variety show, with musical guests and live performances.

NBC, however, was not interested in eliminating the existing format, and the group (except for Peter Tork) had little desire to continue for a third season.

NBC would continue to broadcast repeats of the show through Sept. 9, 1968.
