(Saturday, May 6, 1978) — The recording of “Same Time Next Year” by Wings was essentially completed today at Abbey Road Studios in London as former Beatle Paul McCartney supervised overdubs of a lavish orchestra following the arrangement of Paul and Fiachra Trench.

Guitar, bass, drums and piano had been recorded the day before (May 5, 1978) at RAK Studios in London.

The song was recorded as the title track for the American romantic comedy-drama film but was rejected because too much of the plot was given away in the lyrics.

The recording was finally released in 1990 as the B-side of the “Put It There” CD single.
