Video: 'Plane Crazy Mickey Mouse Classic Walt Disney 1928 Sound Cartoon'

(Tuesday, May 15, 1928) — Mickey Mouse, a funny animal cartoon character and the mascot of The Walt Disney Company, was first seen today in a test screening of the cartoon short Plane Crazy.

The film failed to impress the audience and Disney could not find a distributor for this and a second Mickey short, The Gallopin’ Gaucho.

Mickey would not formally debut until the release of Steamboat Willie on Nov. 18, 1928, in New York.
