(Wednesday, June 15, 1988, noon EDT) — Bull Durham, an American romantic comedy sports film about a losing minor league baseball team in North Carolina and the English teacher who choses one promising player each year to educate and seduce, opened today at Criterion Center Theater in New York City.

Directed by Ron Shelton, the film starred Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Trey Wilson and Robert Wuhl.
