Video: 'Revolution 9 - The Beatles Remastered (2009) The White Album'
(Thursday, June 20, 1968, 7:00 p.m.-3:30 a.m. BST; during sessions for The Beatles, also known as “The White Album”) — Following several days’ work compiling tape loops and effects, John Lennon of The Beatles assembled the master tape tonight for “Revolution 9” at EMI Studios in London.
Lennon used all three studios at Abbey Road on this night, with EMI staff members and engineers rushing around spooling tape loops onto machines.
The basis for the track was the second half of the extended version of “Revolution 1.”
Paul McCartney was absent, having departed for the United States from London Airport one hour before the session began to promote the band’s new company, Apple, in Los Angeles.
