(Thursday, July 27, 1978) — Animal House, an American comedy film about a college fraternity made up of misfits who make life miserable for the school’s conservative dean, premiered tonight in New York City.

Directed by John Landis, the film starred John Belushi, Tim Matheson, John Vernon, Verna Bloom, Thomas Hulce, Stephen Furst, Karen Allen and Donald Sutherland.
