(Tuesday, September 3, 1968) — Granada television was there today to greet The Doors as the California rock band arrived at Heathrow Airport in London for their first European tour.

Granada producer Jo Durden-Smith conducted the ‘Occupation?’ sequence for The Doors Are Open special, which was filmed upon their arrival and aired on Granada TV in December 1968.

The Doors had departed Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York, on Air India the night before at 11:00 p.m. EDT.

The Doors were also filmed for a short interview in the back of a moving vehicle shortly after their arrival at the Heathrow Airport.
