Video: 'The Doors Live in Amsterdam'
(Sunday, September 15, 1968) — The Doors, without lead singer Jim Morrison, performed tonight at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam during the band’s 1968 European Tour.
Morrison was hospitalized after swallowing a block of hashish and drinking alcohol. He then appeared onstage unexpectedly during Jefferson Airplane’s set, performed what Doors’ keyboardist Ray Manzarek described as a “whirling dervish dance,” and collapsed.
Morrison would recover in time to perform at the band’s next scheduled concert on Sept. 17, 1968, in Copenhagen.
