(Wednesday, September 18, 1968, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT) — Funny Girl, an American biographical romantic musical comedy-drama film about comedienne Fanny Brice who fights to prove that she can be the greatest star and find romance even though she isn’t pretty, premiered tonight at the Criterion Theatre in New York City.

Produced by Ray Stark and directed by William Wyler, the film starred Barbra Streisand, Omar Sharif and Kay Medford.
