(Tuesday, July 29, 1969, 2:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. British Summer Time; during sessions for Abbey Road) — The Beatles today completed John Lennon’s “Come Together” (adding a lead guitar overdub) and “Polythene Pam” and Paul McCartney’s “She Came In Through the Bathroom Window” (adding backing vocals, tambourine, maracas, cowbell, lead guitar and a whip crack percussion effect) at EMI Studio 3 in London.

It was the fourth and fifth of 14 tracks completed for the band’s next album, Abbey Road.

Between 10:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. British Summer Time, a rough mix of the Abbey Road medley – or The Long One/Huge Melody as it was known – was created in the control room of Studio Two. This was primarily to see how the various songs fitted together, and whether any extra recording would be necessary.
