Video: 'Apocalypse Now' trailer
(Wednesday, August 15, 1979, noon EDT) — Apocalypse Now, an American epic war film about an Army captain who travels to Cambodia during the Vietnam War to terminate a renegade officer, opened today at the Ziegfeld Theater in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, three months after a “work in progress” version of the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
Directed by Francis Coppola, the film starred Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall, Martin Sheen, Frederic Forrest, Albert Hall, Sam Bottoms, Larry Fishburne and Dennis Hopper.
