(Monday, September 3, 1979) — Former Beatle Ringo Starr appeared today at the Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas as a special guest on the annual “The Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon,” an annual Labor Day telethon to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Starr accepted pledges over the phone and joined Bill Wyman, Todd Rundgren, Doug Kershaw and Kiki Dee on drums for an all-star jam performance of “Money (That’s What I Want),” “Twist and Shout” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.”
