(Thursday, August 14, 1980, 1:00 p.m. PDT) — Playboy magazine’s current “Playmate of the Year,” actress-model Dorothy Stratten, 20, was brutally raped and shot to death today in Los Angeles by her estranged husband and manager, Paul Snider, who then killed himself.

Each had been killed by a single blast from Snider’s shotgun.
