(Tuesday, September 28, 1920, afternoon CDT; during the Black Sox Scandal) — A grand jury indicted eight members of the Chicago White Sox today for allegedly throwing the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds.
The players were accused of intentionally losing games in exchange for money from a gambling syndicate led by Arnold Rothstein in what would become known as the Black Sox Scandal.
