Video: 'John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band (1970)' (11 videos)
(Friday, December 11, 1970) — John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, the debut solo studio album by John Lennon and his first since the public break-up of The Beatles, was released today in both the U.S. and UK.
Co-produced by Lennon, his wife, Yoko Ono, and Phil Spector, the album contains a largely raw production sound with songs heavily influenced by Lennon’s then-recent primal scream therapy. Its lyrics reflect Lennon’s personal issues and includes themes of child-parent abandonment and psychological suffering.
In 2012, Rolling Stone magazine placed the album 23rd on the magazine’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”
