(Monday, February 15, 1971) — Former Beatle John Lennon recorded “Power to the People” (take 10) today at Ascot Sound Studios (ASS), a recording studio built by Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, in 1970 on the grounds of Tittenhurst Park, their 72-acre estate  26 miles west of London, for release as a single on Mar. 8, 1971.

(Wednesday, February 15, 1961, 10:05 a.m. Central European Time) — 73 people, including all 18 members of the U.S. figure skating team en route from New York City to Brussels, Belgium, to the World Championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia, were killed today in the crash of a Sabena Airlines Boeing 707 in Belgium.
