(Tuesday, February 16, 1971) — Former Beatle John Lennon resumed tracking his second solo studio album today at Ascot Sound Studios (ASS), a studio built by Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, on the grounds of Tittenhurst Park, their 72-acre estate  26 miles west of London.

Lennon, drummers Jim Gordon and Jim Keltner, saxophonist Bobby Keys and bassist Klaus Voorman tracked 26 takes of an early version of “I Don’t Wanna Be a Soldier Mama” and additional takes of “Well (Baby Please Don’t Go).”

“I Don’t Wanna Be a Soldier Mama” would be re-made, starting May 24, 1971. “Well (Baby Please Don’t Go)” would officially go unreleased until 2011.
