Paul McCartney tracks ‘Ram On’ and ‘Ram On (Reprise)’ in New York 50 years ago #OnThisDay #OTD (Feb 22 1971)

(Monday, February 22, 1971; during sessions for Ram) — Fresh from his Feb. 19, 1971, appearance in a London courtroom to seek dissolution of the band’s contractual partnership, former Beatle Paul McCartney today tracked “Ram On” and “Ram On (Reprise)” at A&R Studios in New York City, during sessions for Ram, his second solo album.

In March-April 1971, “Ram On” received additional overdubs and both tracks were mixed at Sound Recorders Studio in Los Angeles for release (officially with his wife, Linda) on May 17, 1971.

McCartney and his wife, Linda, also recorded “Now Hear This Song Of Mine,” which was turned into fifteen introductions of 30 seconds or 60 seconds to the tracks of Ram created for radio stations. These were mixed in Hollywood on Mar. 3, 1971.
