Video: ‘The Thing from Another World’ trailer

(Thursday, April 5, 1951) — The Thing from Another World, an American black-and-white science fiction-horror film about an Air Force crew and scientists at a remote Arctic research outpost who fight a malevolent plant-based alien being, opened today in Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio.

Directed by Christian Nyby, the film stars Margaret Sheridan, Kenneth Tobey, Robert Cornthwaite, and Douglas Spencer.

James Arness plays The Thing, but he is difficult to recognize in costume and makeup due to both low lighting and other effects used to obscure his features.
