John Lennon and Yoko Ono arrive in New York in search of Ono’s daughter 50 years ago #OnThis Day #OTD (Jun 1 1971)

(Tuesday, June 1, 1971) — Beatle John Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, arrived today John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York City, on a BOAC flight from London on a search for Ono’s 7-year-old daughter by her ex-husband, British movie producer Anthony Cox.

Lennon said that he and Yoko had received word from friends that Kyoko had left Spain and come to Bellport, New York, with her father.

The Lennons have been fighting for custody of the girl and recently were charged with kidnapping in Spain when Yoko visited with Kyoko.

“That is being cleared up,” Lennon told reporters. “We came here on a two-week visa to see some lawyers and get the rights for Yoko to be with her daughter.”

Ono said Kyoko wants to see her and she hopes some legal action can be taken so that Cox would have to attend a hearing on the matter.
