(Sunday, July 18, 1971) — Filming of the promotional video for John Lennon’s “Imagine” song began today at his Tittenhurst Park estate near Ascot, England.

The footage shows Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, walking up the driveway through the “fog” (created by a smoke machine) to their front door.

The second part of the video, showing Lennon performing the song at his white grand piano with Ono opening up the shutters of the windows before sitting down next to him at the piano, would be filmed on Wednesday, July 21, 1971.

The song would be released Sept. 7, 1971, as part of Lennon’s Imagine album, and then released as a single in the U.S. on Oct. 11, 1971.
