Paul McCartney’s new group Wings records three songs for debut album 50 years ago #OnThisDay #OTD (Jul 26 1971)

(Monday, July 26, 1971) — Former Beatle Paul McCartney and his brand new British-American rock band, Wings, re-assembled today at EMI Studios (Abbey Road) in London for a third day of recording sessions for what would become the group’s debut album, Wild Life, which would be released Dec. 3, 1971.

The band, which also included McCartney’s wife, Linda, Denny Seiwell and Denny Laine, recorded  “Wild Life” and “Tomorrow” and “Mumbo.”

Rough mixes of all three tracks would be made Aug. 6, 1971, and released in 2018.

All three tracks would be mixed Oct. 8, 1971, for the Dec. 3, 1971, release of the original album.
