Video: 'Ringo Starr - Stop and Smell the Roses Full Album' (10 videos)
(Monday, October 26, 1981) — Stop and Smell the Roses, the eighth studio album by ex-Beatle Ringo Starr, was released today in the U.S. (it would be released in the UK on Nov. 20, 1981), featuring appearances by fellow ex-Beatles Paul McCartney and George Harrison.
Former Beatle John Lennon had been due to participate in the recording, having offered Starr the songs “Life Begins at 40” and “Nobody Told Me,” but he was murdered in New York a month before the sessions were to have taken place.
Two songs from the album — “Wrack My Brain” b/w “Drumming Is My Madness” — were also released as a single on this day in the U.S. (Nov. 13, 1981, in the UK).
