Video: 'Raga' trailer
(Tuesday, November 23, 1971, 12:00 p.m. EST) — Raga, documentary film about the life and music of Indian sitarist Ravi Shankar, featuring former Beatle George Harrison, opened today at the Carnegie Hall Cinema in New York City.
Video: 'Raga - Journey into the Soul of India'
Directed by Howard Worth, the majority of the documentary was shot in the late 1960s, during a period when Shankar’s growing popularity saw Indian classical music embraced by rock and pop musicians and their audiences.
Harrison and fellow ex-Beatle John Lennon were in attendance when the film was screened for the press on the previous evening at Carnegie Hall Cinema.
