(Monday, April 6, 1992, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. BST) — Ex-Beatle George Harrison performed what would turn out to be his final full-length solo concert tonight at Royal Albert Hall in London.

The concert was organized as a benefit the Natural Law Party (NLP), founded in 1992 on “the principles of Transcendental Meditation,” the laws of nature, and their application to all levels of government, three days before Britain’s general election.

Harrison’s backing band consisted of various members of Eric Clapton‘s tour band, plus Mike Campbell from Tom Petty‘s Heartbreakers, on lead guitar.

On the last two songs, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and “Roll Over Beethoven,” Harrison was joined by fellow ex-Beatle Ringo Starr, guitarists Gary Moore, Joe Walsh, and his son, Dhani.

According to Harrison, a week before the general election, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who had achieved fame as the guru to The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and other celebrities, suggested to Harrison that he, Starr, and fellow ex-Beatle Paul McCartney stand for election as MPs for Liverpool as NLP candidates, but they declined.
