Andrews, commandeered a train, The General, today in Big Shanty, Georgia (now Kennesaw) and took it northward toward Chattanooga, Tennessee, doing as much damage as possible to the vital Western and Atlantic Railroad (W&A) line from Atlanta to Chattanooga as they went.
